When the air is crisper and the frost lingers on cars and yards, many people tend to feel as gloomy as the weather. Being stuck at home this year may put a damper on the holiday spirit, but there are still so many things to take joy in this time of year.
The minute the temperature drops, many people tend to complain rather than appreciate the excitement of a new season. Don’t worry though, we have a few tips that might just make you fall in love with winter!
Enjoy outdoor activities
Stop dreaming about summer because fun can happen even without the sun! Although it’s cold outside, there is no reason to spend all your time by your warm fireplace. Spend some time with your kids or grandkids sledding down a snow-blanketed hill, gliding (sometimes stumbling) around on ice-skates, or simply embracing the beauty of nature on a snow-covered trail. All you have to do is bundle up and brave the cold.
Reunite with friends and family (even if only online)
Use this years’ time inside as an excuse to bond with your family. Revisit some of you best memories by looking through old pictures or a slideshow from a past vacation, play a couple games like Pictionary or Catch Phrase, make cookies with someone over FaceTime, have a holiday movie marathon, and enjoy the endless sweets and mugs of hot chocolate while you curl up under a blanket.
Take in a good view
Some states are embracing their green winters, but we are fortunate enough to truly experience winter at its finest. Snow only comes for a limited time of the year and we should all take a moment to marvel at the beautiful phenomenon. Sure, come April we may be a bit tired of it all, but for now go out and walk, build forts and have snowball fights with friends and family.
Get cozy inside
There is something so soothing about candlelight and a warm fire. Read a good book while someone else does the same and then compare notes, start a new home project, make a craft or simply curl up with good company. Try to appreciate the little things and be creative in making your home the epitome of comfort. After all, we all deserve to take the time to relax and enjoy the season. Embrace winter with our TVS family, and make this holiday season one to remember!
