Vein Doctor Serving Redford Township, MI

Diagnostic Vein Care for Leg Swelling, Heaviness & Varicose Veins

A Direct Route to Focused Vein Care from Redford

Redford Township sits farther north than the Taylor clinic, but Telegraph Road provides a nearly continuous route between the two communities. Most trips from central Redford take about 20 to 25 minutes. For patients in the 48239 and 48240 ZIP code areas, that offers an alternative to navigating downtown Detroit or coordinating care through a large hospital system.

The Redford page is especially relevant for people whose legs feel different at the end of a shift than they do in the morning. Long hours at a desk, behind the wheel, on a sales floor, or in a job that requires standing can reveal swelling, aching, cramps, or heaviness caused by venous reflux. These symptoms can be easy to attribute to age, back pain, or general fatigue without checking how blood is moving through the leg veins.

Dr. Ganesh Ramaswami uses a diagnostic-first approach. As a board-certified surgeon and Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation, he reviews symptoms alongside duplex ultrasound findings before recommending a procedure. His academic background, including a PhD and more than 60 surgical publications, supports a careful approach rather than a standard treatment for every patient.

The clinic accepts most major insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and many HMO plans. Free insurance verification and prior authorization support help Redford patients understand the financial process before a medically necessary treatment is scheduled.

Vein Health Concerns in Redford Township

Vein Health Concerns in Redford Township

Venous conditions such as varicose veins affect a significant number of adults. Research indexed by the National Library of Medicine estimates that approximately 24% of adults have visible varicose veins, while about 6% have a more advanced form of chronic venous disease.

Redford Township has an estimated adult population of roughly 36,500 residents. Based on these national estimates, approximately 8,760 local adults may have visible varicose veins, while around 2,190 could be living with chronic venous disease.

Symptoms such as tired or heavy legs, swelling around the ankles, nighttime cramping, itching, restless legs, or veins that become more prominent over time are worth paying attention to. They may be connected to underlying venous reflux rather than ordinary fatigue.

A duplex ultrasound can confirm whether abnormal blood flow is present, identify the affected vein, and help the provider recommend monitoring, compression, or a minimally invasive procedure when appropriate.

Keep Up with Work, Family, and Redford Life

Office-based treatment can reduce the disruption associated with older surgical approaches. Many procedures take 15 to 45 minutes, allowing patients to plan care around the responsibilities and recreation that shape daily life in Redford:

  • Walk at Bell Creek Park without treating leg heaviness as an unavoidable part of the day.
  • Return to Glenhurst Golf Course after the temporary activity limits for your procedure have passed.
  • Use fitness and community programs at the Redford Community Center more comfortably.
  • Attend township festivals, markets, and outdoor events with less concern about prolonged standing.
  • Schedule follow-up care along a familiar Telegraph Road route rather than crossing the region.

A vein evaluation will not explain every type of leg discomfort, but it can determine whether venous reflux is one part of the problem. Contact the Taylor clinic when symptoms are recurring, worsening, or changing how you move through the day.

A Diagnostic-First Approach for Redford Patients

The treatment decision begins with the ultrasound map. If a straight section of a larger superficial vein is refluxing, radiofrequency ablation may be appropriate. If a non-thermal approach better fits the anatomy or treatment plan, VenaSeal may be considered. The goal in either case is to close the malfunctioning vein so blood can use healthier pathways.

Not every vein can or should be treated the same way. Foam-based therapy can reach twisting branches, compounded sclerotherapy can address selected small veins, and laser treatment may be used for superficial cosmetic vessels. Microphlebectomy is reserved for prominent veins that need to be removed through tiny openings.

Insurance plans often require documentation of symptoms, ultrasound findings, and sometimes conservative care before authorizing a medical procedure. The Taylor team helps organize that process, which is particularly useful for Redford patients balancing treatment with work schedules and transportation.

After the underlying problem is addressed, follow-up imaging confirms the treated vein has closed as intended and helps determine whether any remaining surface veins require additional care.

Dr. Ramaswsmi, Just the doctor I needed. He explained all my problems and answered my questions and explained the difference in all my problems and what was going on with my body so I could get a mental picture. The staff was very pleasant and professional and treated me with kindness and courtesy. The office was clean and I felt like I was where I needed to be! Thank you Taylor Vein Solutions.
I was impressed with my first visit with Taylor Vein Solutions. I was able to complete my new patient paperwork at home which I appreciate. When I arrived, I was immediately taken into an exam room. Dr. Ramaswami came in and discussed my case and ordered an ultrasound. The ultrasound tech was very kind and thorough. Dr. Ramaswami explained my treatment plan in great detail. I feel I made a great decision by making an appointment with Taylor Vein Solutions. Everyone made me feel at ease. I have since had multiple procedures done at Taylor Vein Solutions, and this practice is exceptional! They treat you like family. Dr. Ramaswami is the very best! I highly recommend.
Stop listening to the lies from your Dr. And RUN to Dr. Ramaswami and the Staff of Taylor Vein Solutions!!! I had been complaining of a swollen leg, tingleness and numbness, leg pain, and poor circulation for at least 3yrs to my Doctor. They would always shrug it off, blame it on the weather, up my water pills or throw me on Lasix, and tell me to continue wearing my compression socks. (Which I have a pretty extensive collection of, if that tells you anything.) I had been dealing with this for a long time. At my last Dr's appt, I of course saw yet another P.A. who actually took the 2secs to look at my legs and noticed some varicose veins. What?!.. She wrote me up a referral to a Vascular Dr., and I went searching. Online I stumbled into Taylor Vein Solutions that got me in right away for an ultrasound. They were soo kind and willing to work with my teaching schedule. The Ultrasound determined that I should have been in there years ago, and Dr. Ramaswami and Staff went to work. I loved Taylor Vein Solutions because they educated me throughout the process, all of my questions got answers, I got great literature on what to expect, and I could finally for once, see the light at the end of the tunnel. We ended up doing one leg the first day, and the other leg the next. The procedure was nothing. Dr. Ramaswami and staff talked to me throughout the whole process. The first night, with the first leg I was pushing off the covers, and the next day, with the last procedure, I instantly felt the blood rushing back to my once numb toes!!! My snow white toe nail bed due to poor circulation, is now pink again. I am completely in awe!!! I get to go back in at the end of the week to get the last leg checked to make sure everything is fine, etc. Dr. RAMASWAMI and Staff, a huge THANK YOU for saving my life, taking the time out with me, and putting me first. I will be shouting out your praises, and steering everyone your direction. I praise God for guiding me your way! 🙏 ❤️ God bless you all, and Merry Xmas! Jayme Anderson

Very nice staff. The girls in front were always call me the day before and called me the morning of the procedure to remind me of my appointment. I love that because I always forget what time I was supposed to be there. So when they called me in the morning, I knew when to get there, they are so great. So pleasant, very nice, the whole staff, even the doctor did such a wonderful job of doing everything he could do. He always touched on me. Make sure everything was good. Thank you. Everybody love you all. Thank you for the great work😄

He is truly remarkable. I went in for leg heaviness, swelling, tiredness, etc. after my procedures and follow up appts I am happy to say I feel better than ever. I’m 54 and these legs feel like 30y/o legs. I’m able to do a lot more than I was. Thank you so much Dr Ramaswami.
Dr. Ramaswami and his team provide an amazing care. Dr. Ramaswami is an excellent physician in his field. He takes his time and explains in detail what is going on and what steps he intents to take. Redford Township Vein Treatment Questions

Why do my legs feel worse after standing or sitting all day?

When venous valves are damaged, remaining in one position can increase pressure in the lower legs. Symptoms may include heaviness, swelling, aching, itching, or cramps. Other conditions can cause similar symptoms, so an examination and ultrasound are needed to identify the source.

Can a desk job contribute to varicose vein symptoms?

Long periods of sitting can reduce the help that calf muscles provide in moving blood upward. Sitting does not cause every vein condition, but it can aggravate symptoms in someone who already has weak valves or venous reflux.

How far is the Taylor clinic from Redford Township?

The drive is generally 20 to 25 minutes from central Redford using Telegraph Road. Travel time varies by neighborhood and traffic.

Why is duplex ultrasound important before treatment?

Ultrasound shows the direction of blood flow, identifies valves that are not closing correctly, and maps the vein anatomy. This helps the provider avoid treating only the visible branch while missing a larger refluxing vein.

Will compression stockings permanently fix a refluxing vein?

Compression can reduce swelling and heaviness while it is being worn, but it does not repair a damaged valve or permanently close the vein. It may still be recommended as symptom management or as part of an insurance requirement.

Does insurance require prior authorization for vein treatment?

Many plans do. Requirements vary and may include documented symptoms, ultrasound findings, and a period of conservative care. Taylor Vein Solutions verifies benefits and prepares authorization paperwork when required.

Is VenaSeal an option for everyone?

No single treatment is right for every patient. VenaSeal may be considered when the vein anatomy and medical history support a non-thermal closure method. The provider reviews ultrasound findings and other health factors before recommending it.

Can untreated venous reflux lead to skin problems?

Progressive venous disease can contribute to itching, inflammation, discoloration, thickened skin, or ulcers near the ankle. Worsening skin changes or a wound that heals slowly should be medically evaluated.
